Parking: Please park your vehicles on Boat House Field

Campmasters: Upon arrival at Camp please check in with the Campmasters.  The Campmaster Officeis located just beyond the gate at Boat House field.

Tour Permits:  Out-of-Council Units MUST provide an approved Local Tour Permit from their Council

21 Club

 

  • Capacity: 20
  • Cost: $150 in-council/ $200 out-of-council
  • Water available: year-round (frost-free pipe outside)
  • Restrooms: Outhouse behind cabin
  • Heating: Fireplace
  • Parking: 150 feet from lot (boathouse field)
  • Floor Plan: One large room with 16 bunks, separate room with kitchen and 4 bunks.  Porch overlooking pond.
  • Kitchen: Sink (drain only), Refrigerator, Countertop, Coal/Wood cooking range
  • Other Information: There is a fire-pit and and area for tents outside the cabin.  Cabin overlooks Five-Mile Pond.

 

Magee Village

 

  • Capacity: 7 Adirondacks hold 4 each
  • Cost: $50 in-council/ $75 out-of-council
  • Water available: year-round (frost-free pipe nearby)
  • Restrooms: Flush Toilets/Showers seasonally and Outhouse nearby
  • Parking: 1/2 mile

  • Other Information: There is a fire-pit and and room for a few tents.  Located near White Pine Gove, Trading Post Building and Tom Cullen Field.

 

Blue Heron Hollow

 

  • Capacity:10 Tents
  • Cost: No charge in-council/ $75 out-of-council
  • Water available: year-round (frost-free pipe nearby)
  • Restrooms: Flush Toilets/Showers seasonally and Outhouse nearby
  • Parking: 1/2 mile
  • Other Information: Located by the waterfront on the shores of Five-Mile Pond.  Has an upper and lower area.

 

Abner's Pond

 

  • This is a low-impact site.  Absolutely no vehicle access is allowed.
  • Capacity: 10 Tents
  • Cost: No charge in-council/ $75 out-of-council
  • Water available: none
  • Restrooms: none
  • Parking: 320 yards
  • Other Information: Can camp right on the beach.  Bear Bag cable near site.  Fire Pit in site. Excellent site.

 

Cabin 1 & Cabin 2

 

  • Capacity: 22 each
  • Cost: $150 in-council/ $200 out-of-council
  • Water available: year-round (frost-free pipe outside)
  • Restrooms: Outhouses behind each cabin
  • Heating: Propane
  • Parking: At Cabins
  • Floor Plan: One large room with 22 bunks, Large table and kitchen area.  Porch outside.
  • Kitchen: Sink (drain only), Refrigerator, Countertop, Electric cooking range
  • Other Information: There is a fire-pit and and area for tents outside each cabin.  Cabin 2 has a large tent area behind the cabin.

 

Baden-Powell

Blue Spruce Grove

  • Parking: 1/2 mile
  • Other Information: Located on the edge of Tom Cullen Field.  Close to the Trading Post Building and Camporee Road

 

Dan Beard

 

  • This is a low-impact site.  Absolutely no vehicle access is allowed.
  • Capacity: 15 Tents
  • Cost: No charge in-council/ $75 out-of-council
  • Water available: year-round (frost-free pipe nearby)
  • Restrooms: Outhouse nearby
  • Parking: 400 yards
  • Other Information: Secluded site.  Located on the Camp's bike trail which leads to the State Forest's network of bike paths.

 

   

Camporee Road

 

  • Capacity:60+ Tents
  • Cost: No charge in-council/ $75 out-of-council
  • Water available: year-round (frost-free pipe nearby)
  • Restrooms: Flush Toilets/Showers seasonally and Outhouse nearby
  • Parking: 1/2 mile
  • Other Information: Large open area used for Camporees and other large events.  Near the Trading Post and Tom Cullen Field.

 

Witches Circle

 

  • This is a low-impact site.  Absolutely no vehicle access is allowed.
  • Capacity: 10 Tents
  • Cost: No charge in-council/ $75 out-of-council
  • Water available: none
  • Restrooms: none
  • Parking: 300 yards
  • Other Information: exposed hilltop.  Backpacking Stoves Only!

 

   

Cub Hill

 

  • Capacity:15 Tents
  • Cost: No charge in-council/ $75 out-of-council
  • Water available: year-round - nearby at 21 Club
  • Restrooms: Two outhouses in site
  • Parking: 100 feet
  • Other Information: Area divided into "upper" and lower" sites.  Two outhouses and separate tent areas make it ideal for co-ed groups. Overlooks Five-Mile Pond.  Adjacent to the Mountain Bike trail which has access to the State Forests' network of bike trails.

 

 
   

Scouter's Corner

  • Other Information: Sometimes referred to as "Pitch Pine Beach", located on the shores of Little Five Mile Pond.  Good Fishing area.

Canoe Rentals 

Canoe rentals are offered at Camp Aquapaug and Cachalot during most of the year. Canoes, paddles, PFDs and a trailer are provided.  The Camp Ranger will notify you of local conditions and all rentals are at the discretion of the Ranger. Canoes are now rented by the "rack" - that is 6 canoes with trailer and equipment - rather than individually. Rental term is per weekned. There is a flat fee of $100 per "rack". Additional paddles and PFDs are available for a small fee. Reserve your canoes under the listings for Cachalot or Aquapaug for the weekend you want.

Row Boat/Kayak Rental:

Row boat and kayak rentals are available on a first come first serve basis. Check with campmaster for availability when arrive at camp.

Cycling in the state forest

Cycling in the State Forest is not allowed during hunting season. Currently it is posted that all trails in the State Forest are closed Saturdays and Holidays as well as November 28 - December 10. Please contact the State Forest for more information

Getting to Cachalot

Cachalot is located in the Myles Standish State Forest, Plymouth, MA

From the West, New Bedford/Fall River:  Take I-195 East to Route I-495 North.  Take I-495 North to Route 58 North then follow instructions below.

From the North, Taunton:  Take I-495 South to Route 58 North, then follow instructions below.

From the South, Cape & The Islands: Take 495 North to Route 58 North to South Carver, then follow instructions below.

Continue straight ahead when Route 58 veers to the left.  Travel thru South Carver and turn right onto Cranberry Road and continue into Myles Standish State Forest.  At Forest Headquarters follow the detour signs that continue a circle around the bridge area and then follow the signs towards Fearing Pond and Camp Cachalot.  The road to Camp Cachalot is the next right after Charge Pond Road.
