Camp Buxton

Restroom Facilities

This camp has no flush toilets, 2 portable toilets are available, one is handicap accessible.

Campfires

There are permanent fire pits in several camp sites, and fire rings are available upon request.  Any fire pits other than the permanent pits shall be above ground and approved by the Camp Master on duty.

Water

Is on site and accessible at the well to the front of the upper parking area.  This is the only water source available at Camp Buxton and is availiable year round.

Parking

Camp Buxton  has two parking areas.  The lower and the upper parking lots.  The lower lot accommodates 24 vehicles.  The upper lot  accommodates no more than 7 vehicles.  Large trucks/vans and the like should remain in lower lot. Additional parking can be created for larger activities such as camporees at the rear of the parade field. (with Camp Masters' approval)

Buxton Lodge

This cabin sleeps 22 people.  There are 4 rooms.  A bunk room, dining room, kitchen, and an adult sleeping room.  An electric range and refrigerator are available in this cabin.  Along with a wood stove.  Need to provide own firewood.

Parking is approximately 50 feet from the cabin at the upper parking area, and approximately 400 from the lower parking area.

Restroom facilities are approx. 50 feet from the cabin.

Water is approx. 100 feet from cabin.

Pavillion

Has eight 6 foot picnic tables.  Electricity is available.

PARKING: Is approximately 100 feet from the pavilion to the upper parking area.  Approximately 400 feet from the lower parking area to the pavilion.

RESTROOMS & WATER: Are approximately 100 feet from the pavilion

Parade Field

Camp flag pole is located at the head of the field.  Field is ideal for all field sports and scout activities.  Ideal for camporees , Tiger Cub Safari's and cross over ceremonies.

Tent Camping

Baden Powell Site: Located down the path to the left of the Buxton Lodge.  Room for 20 tents.  A permanent campfire pit is located at this site.  200 feet from the well and 100 feet from the restroom facilities and the upper parking area.

James West Site:  Located at the rear of the parade field.  Room for 15 tents.  A permanent campfire pit is located at this site.  4-500 feet from the well, restroom facilities and the upper parking area.  200 feet from lower parking area using the back access road.

Sherwood Forest Site:  Located across the parade field, opposite the pavilion.  This area is primarily a pine grove.  There is room for numerous tents and campfire rings are available for these sites.  This area is large enough to host several scout troops at one time.   Water and restroom facilities for this area are the same for the entire camp.  See notation above in bold. 

CAMPFIRE RING:  The main campfire ring for Camp Buxton is located to the right side of Buxton Lodge.  Limited tent camping in this area.  Approximately 8 to 10 tents, depending on size. 

Firewood

Firewood is not provided at camp,  Cabin or tent camping units need to provide their own firewood.

Trash Removal

There are no dumpster or trash facilities located at camp, all trash must be removed by the units.
